DOUGLAS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The second of three “informational community forums” ahead of the May 8th ballot proposals for Saugatuck Public Schools is this evening.
Beginning at 6 PM in Douglas Elementary School, Superintendent Tim Travis and other district officials will be on hand to discuss two requests from the voters. One is to restore a half-mill levy for a sinking fund that would handle infrastructure repairs, school security and technology upgrades over the next five years. Such a millage had expired at the end of 2017. The other request is a 1.17-mill tax to fund a 50.7 million-dollar bond issue that would pay for expanding the building that houses Saugatuck’s junior and senior high schools, as well as improvements at Douglas Elementary School. There will be renderings of plans for such upgrades during this forum.
The final forum is set for next Thursday, March 22nd, at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts building. More information on the ballot proposals is here.
