LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The Lakeshore’s two county health departments are getting a financial booster shot from Lansing.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced on Monday a total of 25 grants of 20 thousand dollars each “to increase vaccination outreach to high-risk populations” for combating the state’s hepatitis A outbreak. The health departments in Allegan and Ottawa counties will each receive such a grant, as well as those in neighboring Van Buren, Muskegon, Kent and Kalamazoo counties.
The money, coming from a 7.1 million-dollar appropriation approved late last year that addresses this outbreak, means that all local health departments have been given this financial boost from the M-D-H-H-S. More information about dealing with hepatitis A, including a calendar of vaccination clinics, is here.
