WEST OLIVE (WHTC-AM/FM) — Blinding sun may be the cause of a two-vehicle crash that sent one man to the hospital just after noon on Monday.
Wilfredo Perez, 30, went by ambulance to Holland Hospital after driving his 2009 Buick Enclave though a red traffic signal at the intersection of US 31 and Port Sheldon Street in Olive Township.
The Escalade collided with a 2011 Buick LaCrosse headed west on Port Sheldon. The LaCrosse driver, Heidi Householder, 49, was not injured.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Police ticketed Perez for running the red light. He told police the sun got in his eyes.
