LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Two women from the Lakeshore are among the initial appointments by Governor Snyder to the restructured Michigan Committee on Juvenile Justice.
Compelled by changes in the federal Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act to undergo realignment, the panel advises the governor on juvenile justice issues and guides effective implementation of juvenile justice police and programs. Kathleen Bailey of Plainwell, a Grand Valley State University professor and director of GVSU’s School of Criminal Justice, and Sandra Metcalf of Grand Haven, director of juvenile services for the Ottawa County Circuit Court, were among the 15 persons overall tabbed by Mr. Snyder for this committee.
Bailey will represent youth workers involved in programs that are alternatives to incarceration, including programs providing organized recreation activities, through the end of this year. Metcalf will represent law enforcement and juvenile justice agencies through the end of 2019.
