COOPERSVILLE (WHTC-AM/FM) — A speeding semi-tractor-trailer carrying 61,000 gallons of milk rolled over at the Coopersville roundabout just before 6:30 Friday evening, according to an Ottawa County Sheriff’s statement.
“A large amount of the milk was spilled,” said Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jay Douglas.
The man at the wheel, driving for Binkerd Trucking, had been headed for Continental Dairy. He was uninjured, but cited for speeding, Douglas said, adding that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Police closed the intersection of 68th Avenue at Randall Street for three hours, to allow for investigation and dealing with overturned semi and the spilled milk.
Ottawa County Sheriff Office deputies were aided by the Coopersville-Polkton Area Fire Department, Young’s Environmental Cleanup, and John’s Towing Service.
