ALLEGAN COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — Allegan County Prosecuting Attorney Myrene K. Koch has filed to run as a Republican candidate to retain her seat.
Koch was appointed as the Prosecuting Attorney in March, when Robert Kengis was appointed to fill the vacancy on the 48th Circuit Court. She is Allegan County’s first female prosecuting attorney.
She has been with the Allegan Count Prosecutor’s Office since 2002, spending 14 years as anAssistant Prosecutor and more than a year as the chief assistant prosecutor.
During her tenure, Koch’s cases have ranged from serious felony trials for homicide, torture, criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, home invasion, child abuse, and domestic violence.
She is the current board vice president of Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center and past vice president of Sylvia’s Place Domestic Violence Shelter. She is also Co-Chairof the Allegan County Coordinating Council on Domestic Violence.
Koch is an instructor for the Prosecuting Attorney’s Association of Michigan and also providestraining to all law enforcement agencies within Allegan County. She is a member of the AAESASafe Schools Collaborative, and a former member of the South Haven Board of Education andvolunteers for school events.
She is a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Allegan. She lives near Allegan with her husband of 25 years, Lewis, and their family.
