HOLLAND TWP. (WHTC-AM/FM) — A small fire broke out in the attic of the small theater at Nelis Dutch Village, on U.S. 31 near James Street, just before 10 a.m. Friday.
Fire hoses were stretched across James Street and traffic was blocked, according to Ottawa County Sheriff Steve Kempker.
Holland Township Fire Chief Jim Kohsel said the building was unoccupied when firefighters arrived.
“We pulled ceilings and got to the fire that way,” Kohsel said. “So yes, thre are definitley breaches going to the outside area, but (the fire was) all contained in the one area.”No one was hurt.
The blaze was small and doused within minutes, but traffic got backed up in the area and drivers should find alternative routes for the next hour or two.
No word as to the cause of the fire at this time. Kohsel couldn’t put an immediate dollar value on the fire-related losses, but said the building would be able to be repaired.
The fire remains under investigation.
