OLIVE (WHTC-AM/FM) — Zeeland resident Christopher Pearl, 47, is in critical condition at Spectrum Health Butterworth after the motorcycle he was riding hit a semi tractor-trailer, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Austin.
Pearl’s 2017 Suzuki GSX1300 was northbound on 96th Avenue and passing to teh left of a semi tractor-trailer.
That semi, being driven by 45-year-old Michael Jefferis of Merrillville, IN, was slowing down to turn left into Tyson Foods. Pearl’s motorcycle hit the semi’s driver-side door.
Pearl was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was airlifted to Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids in critical condition, Sgt. Austin said. Jefferis was not physically hurt in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
