ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The search for a new leader of the Zeeland Board of Public Works should begin in earnest shortly.
Two weeks ago, WJ Cook submitted his notice to step down as General Manager of the local municipal utility after eight years at the helm, effective next January 21st, citing, “after 40 years in the electric utility industry, it is time for me to retire.”
Shortly thereafter, the BPW Board recommended to City Council the retaining of Mycoff, Fry and Prouse LLC, an executive search and recruitment firm, to aid in the search for a new GM, at a price of $50,000. This firm also helped Zeeland in landing Cook as the utility’s leader in 2018.
The BPW recommendation is among the items on tonight’s Council meeting agenda; also on tap is a request by City Manager Tim Klunder to cancel Zeeland’s contract with Xerox’ Firehouse Software for its fire/rescue department and contract out with Image Trend on new software for that department.
The Zeeland City Council has a 6:15 work-study session ahead of this evening’s 7 PM business meeting at Zeeland City Hall. A link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
