GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It was a one out of five Wednesday evening in Grand Rapids for the Lakeshore.
During the annual Governor’s Energy Excellence Awards ceremony at the Goei Center, Rick Snyder announced eight individuals and organizations that earned top honors “for their extraordinary efforts to reduce energy waste,” according to a statement from the Governor’s office. Among the winners was Continental Dairy Facilities for their Coopersville plant in the “Best Project-Agriculture” category; the Holland Board of Public Works’ Holland Energy Plant lost to the Genesee Intermediate School District in the “Best Projects-Public” category, while its Residential Energy Performance Labeling Pilot Program couldn’t top Okemos’ Homeless Shelters Initiative in the “Best Communication/Education Program” category; Roy and Mary Cole of Holland fell short to James and Ann Stump of Lyons in the “Best Project-Residential” category; and Robert Katrinic of Holland earned honorable mention in the “Best Project-Residential” category.
The program was established “to honor Michigan individuals and organizations who have made reducing energy waste and implementing energy-efficient practices part of their everyday lives.”
