HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Two persons were wounded and three are in custody following a pair of related fights and stabbings on Holland’s East Side overnight.
According to the Department of Public Safety, officers were dispatched to the Baypoint Apartments complex off of East 16th Street shortly after 2 AM on Saturday on a report of a fight and a stabbing. Two victims at the scene were taken to Holland Hospital, where one underwent surgery for wounds to the chest and stomach, and the other was treated and released.
While still at the scene, Ottawa County Central Dispatch reported another fight at a residence in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue. Officers “quickly determined” that these two calls were related, and two suspects arrested at the Lincoln Avenue residence were apparently involved in the Baypoint Apartments altercation. One of the suspects was treated for minor hand injuries at Holland Hospital, and both suspects were eventually taken to the Ottawa County Jail, pending a review of their case by the county prosecutor’s office.
In addition, one other person at the Lincoln Avenue fight who suffered minor injuries was taken into custody on unrelated charges, with no further information immediately available.
The investigation is still open, and anyone with information is asked to contact Holland Public Safety (616-355-1150; policetips@cityofholland.com) or Silent Observer.
