HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland resident Jordan Willard, 30, died Friday after being struck by a vehicle on U.S. 31, according to Sgt. Jay Douglas, of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
Douglas said the incident happened at around 11:50 p.m. Sept. 21, 2018, on U.S. 31 between Tayler and Stanton streets in Port Sheldon Township.
Spring Lake resident Michael Posthumus, 37, was traveling northbound on U.S. 31 when a man darted into the highway out of a wooded area. Posthumus was unable to avoid hitting him, and immediately called 911 and attempted life-saving measures on Willard untime first responders arrived.
Douglas said the northbound lanes of U.S. 31 were closed for several hours.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Port Sheldon Township Fire Department and North Ottawa Community Hospital ambulance paramedics
