HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — MAX Transit has a new executive director.
During an Oct. 8, 2018 special meeting, board members unanimously approved Elisa Hoekwater as executive director, at an annual salary of $87,000, with reviews scheduled in 30, 60 and 180 days. Board memebers Dave Fackler, Abby Klomparens and Heather Lu were absent from the special meeting.
The board chose her out of a field of three finalists, including MAX interim co-director Beth Higgs; and Muskegon Area Transit Systems Manager James Koens.
Hoekwater is scheduled to start work in early November. She current works as the transportation program manager at Macatawa Area Coordinating Council.
The MAX board is also unanimously agreed to adding a deputy director to the transit system’s organizational chart, beginning in November. The deputy will report directly to the executive director and fill in when the director is absent.
The previous executive director, Linda Lefebre, quit in the midst of an embezzlement investigation and has since been charged. She is due back in court later this month.
