HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) –Holland Police are investigating a sexual assault which occurred at about 2 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018.
Two 21-year -old female Hope College students told police they were walking east on the 14th Street sidewalk near College Avenue, with the victim walking a short distance behind her friend.
A man approached the victim, grabbing her and forcibly touching her. The victim’s friend heard the commotion, turned around, and, seeing the assault, yelled at the suspect.
The suspect released his grip on the victim. Both females fled, running from the scene. Police believe the suspect left on foot, although the victim and witness said they did not see which direction he went.
The suspect is described as a light skinned, possibly Hispanic male, with “shaggy” brown hair, a medium build, about 5-foot-5 tall. He was last seen wearing a Lions jersey with a grey hooded sweatshirt underneath.
Officers were able to obtain surveillance footage of a possible suspect from a nearby business. A photo of the possible suspect is attached to the release.
The Holland police statement on this incident indicated it’s not know if this incident is related to the on reported last weekend, as the suspect descriptions differ.. Police are continuing to investigate both incidents.
Students are reminded to not walk alone late at night, but rather walk with others for increased safety.
