HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A quick but not all-inclusive list of where to take the kids for this weekend’s pre-Halloween trick-or-treat fun:
- 10-noon: Trick or treating along downtown Holland’s Eighth Street. Costumes encouraged.
- 11 a.m.-4 p.m., $2 per child, adults free: Monsters at the Museum, intended for children 8 and younger, older children won’t be turned away. Holland Museum, 31 W. 10th St. Trick-or-treat, take flashlight tours of the Dutch galleries; games; and crafts.
- 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Trunk or Treat at Elhart, 822 Chicago Dr., Holland. Partnering with Harbor Humane Society, fun for kids, pet portraits, treats for kids and pets (costumes welcome for both); pet portraits, vote on best trunk.
- 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Trick-or-treating at Holland Town Center, 12330 James St.
- 1 p.m. $5 admission, $4 with costume, free for members and children 1 and younger. Forever Curious Children’s Museum, Fennville, Pumpkin Tangrams, Gourd Stacking, Spooky Slime, and Pumpkin Catapults. No registraton required.
- 1-3 p.m. Scary Beery in the Park downtown Douglas, games, book walk, food
- 2-7 p.m. Outdoor Discovery Center, $10 per family. Family fun, wildlife encounters, games and candy. Trails are wheelchair, stroller and wagon-friendly.
- 3:30 p.m. Saugatuck’s Annual Halloween Kids & Pets Parade, at Wick’s Park. Parade starts at 4 p.m. Cash prizes for best cute, funny, scary and creative costumes. Horse-drawn wagon rides through town, puppet show, other attractions.
- 6:30-8:30 p.m. Fall Fun at the Fairgrounds, Ottawa County Fair event, 1286 Ottawa Beach Rd.
Sunday events:
- Noon-5 p.m. at BAM! 478 E .16th St., Holland: Balloon artist from 2-5 p.m.; laser tag free for costumed kid; cupcake decorating ($1.50 each).
- 1-3 p.m.: Trunk or Treat at the VFW Post 2144, 175 West Eighth St., Holland. Rain or shine time for kids to come out — if it rains, event goes inside the VFW. Use Seventh Street entrance. Hot chocolate and cider served to keep everyone warm.
