HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Members of the Holland Kennel Club have donated $1,000 to Allegan County Sheriff’s Office K9 team.
Sheriff’s officials, in a statement emailed to media, called it a “generous donation will be used to purchase and install a K9 door opener. This door opener will be installed on the police car door that is used by K9 to get in and out of his rear seat kennel.”
The opener allows the deputy K9 handler to release the K9 to be released from its kennel remotely with the press of a button, allowing the K9 to assist in a crisis, when the handler can’t get to the dog.
This door opener will be installed in Allegan County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Martin’s K9 patrol vehicle, for his K9 partner Lajki.
An earlier Holland Kennel Club donation paid for Lajki’s purchase, in the spring of 2017. The Sheriff’s statement expressed gratitude to the club and its members for continued support of the K9 unit.
