HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A couple of matters headline what’s before Holland City Council members tonight.
First, in a special business meeting, the governing panel is expected to approve an emergency ordinance that would establish a five-member Water System Advisory Council. It’s something that a new state law is mandating to be in place by December 14th in the wake of the PFAS and lead water scandals elsewhere in Michigan. Member of the advisory council would be appointed by the Holland BPW and subject to City Council approval.
During the work-study session, City Council members will be briefed by Tricia Dreier, the city’s Assistant Director for Community and Neighborhood Services, in the first of a series of updates on the Short-Term Rental Pilot Program that began last May and runs through the end of June, 2020. In her report, Dreier says that there are currently 14 residences in the program, with all but one having local ownership, and at this point, there have been no code violations at or police calls to any of these properties.
The Holland City Council begins its work in City Hall at 5:30 PM.
