OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — Zeeland Township resident Angel Hull, 19, has been arrested and arraigned on charges of manslaughter and second-degree child abuse, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Capt. Mark Bennett.
Emergency responders were called to her home on Oct. 22, 2018, and found her 8-month-old son, Sebastian Hull, unconscious and not breathing, Bennett said. Efforts to revive him failed, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A forensic autopsy was performed on the child,” Bennett said, adding “And the death was ruled to be that of asphyxia by drowning.”
Police detectives learned she had put the baby into a bath and left the room for “15 or 20 minutes,” Bennett said, finding the baby floating in the water on her return. After a month-long investigation, police asked Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office for the criminal charges.
She was arraigned and a $25,000 bond issued, which was paid. She is currently out of jail.
