HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A fire in the dust collection system at Challenge Manufacturing, 1402 Washington Ave. in Holland, kept firefighters busy for about two hours Monday night, Dec. 3, 2018, according to Holland Fire Capt. Chris Tinney.
No one was injured but some equipment was ruined, Tinney said, in a statement emailed to media.
Firefighters from all three Holland stations were called to the scene just before 8 p.m.
Firefighters remained on the scene until just before 10:30 and were able to contain the damage to equipment, Tinney said, with the building’s interior spared, to the point where the plant resumed operations overnight.
The initial cause of the blaze appears to be accidental, Tinney said, but the fire remains under investigation, during which the cost of damage will be estimated.
Assistance to Holland firefighters came from Holland police, Graafschap Fire Department, and American Medical Response.
