OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — Alcohol and speed may be factors in a Wright Township crash that sent a Walker man to the emergency room on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, according to Ottawa County Sgt. Jay Douglas.
Police were called to the crash scene, 24th Avenue near Walker Street. just after 9:30 p.m. Friday.
They found a 32-year-old Walker resident who had not been wearing his seatbelt, who’d lost control of his 2008 Ford Ranger, crossing the center line and hitting a mailbox before veering back into his own lane, but hitting the guardrail there, which sent the Ranger airborne, Douglas said.
A tree stopped the Ranger, pinning the man inside. He was extricated by Wright Township firefighters and went to Spectrum Health Butterworth by Life Ambulance, Douglas said, adding that it did not appear that the man’s injuries were life-threatening.
The incident remains under investigation.
