POLKTON TWP, MI (WHTC) – Icy roads caused a two-vehicle head-on crash in Ottawa County sending three to the hospital.
Sgt. J Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says at around 2:30 a.m.Thursday morning, Tara Yantem, 29, of Allendale was northbound on 68th Avenue and Garfield when she crossed the centerline on icy roadways and lost control of her 2004 Buick Century. Yantema struck a Dodge Ram pick-up truck head-on driven by Matthew Sahlberg, 28, of Coopersville.
Yantema and her front seat passenger Dustin Wurm, 30, of Nunica who was not wearing a seatbelt, were trapped inside their vehicle before being extricated by Coopersville Fire Rescue.
All three were treated at the scene and then transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids where they are listed in stable condition.
