HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A program called “Winterim” gave local students a chance to explore the Ottawa County Road Commission, exposing students to potential careers and lifetime skills.
Students from Holland Christian High School learned about maintenance, operations and the dangers on the roadway in a week long class referred to as “Street Smarts.” They were shown how a snowplow truck operates and learned first hand the challenges snowplow drivers face in the winter. Challenges such as blind-spots and the dangers of following a snowplow
Ben Kapenga from Total Focus driving school was the class instructor who gave students a better understanding of their local geographical areas in which they live and drive.
The Ottawa County Road Commission’s next board meeting is February 2 at 9 a.m.
