Nathan Eovaldi secured his first win of the season after giving up two runs over five innings. Trevor Story went two-for-five with an RBI in the win for Boston.
Spencer Torkelson went deep for the first time in his major league career after hitting a two-run shot in the seventh inning.
Hansel Robles closed out the game for the red Sox after pitching an inning and a third of scoreless ball.
Boston is now 3-and-3 while Detroit falls to 2-and-4.
