HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Addressing a need for more affordable housing in Holland will spotlight tonight’s City Council work-study session.
Josh Hafron from Wisconsin-based General Capital Group is slated to make a presentation about his organization and a proposed 54-unit Centennial Park Apartments complex off of River Avenue and 11th Street, across from City Hall, at the site of the current Reliable Sports retailer. GCG is seeking a Municipal Service Agreement of a payment of lieu of taxes of four percent of the annual rent to enable the three-story building’s construction, a necessary step in securing state Housing Development Authority tax credits. The Downtown Development Authority and the Holland Planning Commission both have to sign off on the proposal as well.
According to City Manager Ryan Cotton, the last such MSA from the City Council came four years ago in connection with the expansion of the Village of Appledorn. The first reading of this proposed ordinance is scheduled for next Wednesday evening.
