ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) – It will be a tad bit warmer at this year’s Walk For Warmth, but the walkers will all be mindful of West Michigan’s winters.
That’s the point. To walk in the cold and get a firsthand experience of what it’s like to be cold in the winter. The walk benefits the Community Action Agency. The agency in Ottawa County has a variety of programs and services for low income families, with the biggest one for utility assistance. Companies, schools, churches and individuals walk every year raising money through pledges to fund the programs and services.
The Community Action Agency’s Walk For Warmth is in it’s 29th year. Last year through their range of programs, they assisted over 3,500 qualified households in Ottawa County. If you are in need of assistance, details on how to apply for assistance are online.
The Walk For Warmth is February 11 at 8:30 a.m. at City on a Hill in Zeeland. Pledge forms are available online. A new Facebook page has been set up for the walk too.
