GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – A 56-year-old Holland man may not be a free man again until well into his old age.
Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Jon Hulsing sentenced Lowell Charles to a 25-to-40-year prison sentence on a conviction of first-degree criminal sexual conduct against a child younger than age 13. Two other charges were dismissed in a plea deal.
Prosecutors claim that Charles sexually abused an unnamed 11-year-old girl for over a year, recording some of the offenses on a mobile phone. He was arrested last September after a local retailer tipped Holland Public Safety officers that a unit being service had child pornography on it. A search of Charles’ residence found more evidence substantiating these charges.
