LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Mother Nature must have been alerted to the free fishing weekend in Michigan because the weather will be perfect to be out on the water.
This weekend will be sunny with temps in the low 50’s and February 18 and 19, all fishing license fees will be waived for the two days. Residents and out-of-state visitors can fish for free on both inland and Great Lakes waters for all species of fish. All fishing regulations will still apply.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says young people do not have access to fishing opportunities like past generation did due to busy schedules and the lack of leisure time.
The next free fishing weekend is June 10 and 11. Michigan offers some of the finest freshwater fishing ion the world, with more than 3,000 miles of Great LAkes shoreline, more than 11.000 inland lakes and tens of thousands of miles of rivers and streams.
