HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – It was a time for memories on Saturday at the Holland Civic Center.
Several residents and civic leaders came to the venerable building to share recollections during a “Community Story-Sharing Event” ahead of the scheduled closing next month for a complete renovation. City Councilman Jay Peters said, “I played basketball for Holland High School and we played games against Holland Christian here. Those were something to remember, but more important than that was this; my dad died when I was 10, and one of the only memories I have of him is bringing me to the Civic Center to come and watch this guy named Floyd Brady.” Brady was a legendary Hope College star.
Holland Christian’s final boys game is on Tuesday versus NorthPointe Christian, and the last event is a three-on-three basketball tournament next weekend.
