GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – It may be a little cold right now to take a dip, but the waters of the Grand River near its mouth at Lake Michigan is off-limits for the time being.
The Ottawa County Department of Public Health issued a No Body Contact Advisory on Monday from a point a mile east of the US-31 drawbridge west to Lake Michigan. This is due to a sanitary sewage release of an undisclosed amount by the Grand Haven/Spring Lake Sewer Authority. No cause of the release was immediately disclosed.
The advisory will remain in effect until repairs at the source of the release have been completed and the water is retested by department staffers.
