HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity is gearing up for National Women Build Week and are extending it to the full month of May.
Loews is the primary sponsor and Lakeshore Habitat is one of 300 Habitat’s chosen nationwide to get grant money for Women Build Week. Women Build is an international program that encourages women to get involved in addressing the housing needs of their community.
Volunteer Manager Stacey Korecki says Lakeshore Habitat is looking to churches, organizations, clubs and corporations to sponsor a Women Build Day in May and come out to volunteer.
“Volunteers get Women Build t-shirts, lunch on site and they are taught whatever task it is for that day and Lowes offers free clinics to help with that. It’s a lot of fun and camraderie. We do our best to get the homeowners out there to meet with the volunteers and once the house is complete the volunteers get invited to an open house. It’s nice closure there for the volunteers.”
Sponsorship forms are due on March 31st, but payment is not due until the build day. Call Stacey Korecki at 616-393-8001 ext. 103 with Women Build questions.
