HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Reserve a piece of Holland history as the Civic Center closes it’s doors for renovation.
The final events are tonight and Saturday with a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. After that the Civic Center closes for renovation.
Pieces of the Civic Center that are being permanently removed are available to the public to reserve and purchase. You can reserve your items today and will be available for pick-up in early June.
Available items include pairs of balcony seats for $300, tall metal lockers at $100 per locker and 112 original bleacher boards. The boards run $500 for a full board, half boards are $250 and a quarter board is $125.00.
There are two ways to reserve your items. Call the Recreation Department at 616-355-1130 or email the City of Holland and include your name, what item you;’d like to reserve and a phone number.
City Manager Ryan Cotten says the asbestos removal starts next week.
“The bids came in $90,000 under estimate and it should take between four and eight weeks. From there nothing will happen until after Tulip Time. The Farmer’s Market will be a reduced version to the westside of 8th Street, but will be enhanced on the east side. We think we will still have the same number of vendors and new management. That’s what’s happening in that neck of the woods.”
Shovels will hit the ground this July, and then the Civic Center ribbon-cutting is scheduled in September of 2018.”
