JAMESTOWN TWP., MI (WHTC) – A two-vehicle crash around dawn on Friday in southeastern Ottawa County hospitalized two Grand Rapids-area teenagers.
Sheriff’s Sergeant Bob Ruster, along with fellow deputies and first responders, were dispatched to the intersection of 8th Avenue and Adams Street. “Anya Zwier was driving southbound on 8th Avenue and had stopped at the stop sign at Adams Street,” he explained. “She then pulled into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by Lena Keeler.”
Rescuers had to extricate the 16-year-old Zwier of Wyoming and her passenger, 17-year-old Helen Schmid of Grand Rapids. Both teens were taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening head injuries. The 60-year-old Keener of Hudsonville, along with two teenagers in her vehicle, were not hurt.
Ruster said that all involved were buckled up at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
