HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – The “all clear” has been sounded by the Ottawa County Department of Public Health for the mouth of the county’s chief river tributary.
An 11-day “No Body Contact Advisory” for the waters of the Grand River, from a point a mile east of the US-31 drawbridge westward to the inlet into Lake Michigan, was lifted on Thursday morning. A leak reported on February 24th in an underground pipe that leads to the Grand Haven/Spring Lake Sewer Authority complex was repaired, with the line in question having been put back into service, and results of tests taken of the waters following the repair have come back satisfactorily.
It was reported that a total of around two million gallons of sanitary sewage was released over the four days before the leak was capped.
