HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – It was the perfect day for a warm cup of soup especially when you have over 12 kinds to choose from.
The Ladles of Love for My House Ministry of Holland was held at the Boys and Girls Club of Holland Tuesday afternoon. Area businesses made 12 different soups, Russ’ restaurant provided the bread and and Cranes the desserts.
Over 300 hundred people attended the event with community leaders, police and local radio personalities serving up the soup. There were over 55 students from Holland Public Schools Advanced Foods Class that helped with the event. Holland Mayor Nancy DeBoer served up dessert visiting with patrons at their tables.
Founder Nancy Jones of the Ministry says over $10,000 was raised at the luncheon.
My House Ministry was founded in 2012 by Mark and Nancy Jones. The Ministry operates four homes in Holland helping up to 15 women and 17 children by providing hope, housing and guidance. The average stay is 10-12 months and the ministry has Life Skills Coordinators that meet with residents to help them move forward with the skills they need. Over the years, over 100 women and 40 children have lived in the homes and stayed for up to 18 months.
