HOLLAND TWP, MI (WHTC) – A Holland man is in critical condition after veering off the roadway and overturning his vehicle several times.
Ottawa County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to around 1 a.m. to Northbound US-31 and Riley Street on Sunday, March 19. Witnesses say that 32-year-old Dustin Darrow was traveling at a high rate of speed when he left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned his 2017 Ford Focus several times.
Sgt. Jay Douglas says his vehicle came to rest in the drive-thru at Walgreen’s on the corner of US-31 and Riley Street. The vehicle did glance off the building, but did not cause any significant damage to the building before coming to rest on his passenger side.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office treated Darrow at the scene and he was transported to Holland Hospital. From there he was then transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in critical condition.
His seatbelt use is unknown and the crash remains under investigation.
Responding agencies to the scene were the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Holland-Park Township Unit, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol, Holland Township Fire Rescue and AMR Ambulance.
