ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC) – Grand Valley State University is honoring two freshmen for their act of heroism.
Jarret Basset and Trevor Fairchild are roomates who are being honored for rescuing a woman from a burning car. In January the woman was in a head-on crash near the campus in Allendale.
Had the two men not acted, first responders say the woman would probably be dead.
President Thomas Haas says their acts of bravery exemplify one of the university’s slogans, the “Laker Effect.”
