HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The Elhart Automotive campus has chosen Kid’s Food Basket as their charitable organization to support in 2017.
Every year the entire staff at Elhart votes to support a local organization. Multiple “Funraisers “as they call them will be held throughout the year in support of Kid’s Food Basket.
In May of 2015, Kids’ Food Basket of Holland introduced their Sack Supper program at Holland Heights K-7 and Woodside Elementary. They now serve over 500 suppers every week. 1 in 5 children in Michigan affected by hunger.
The Elhart Automotive Campus started the Elhart Cares program five years ago in an effort to establish organized and intentional community service as part of the Elhart culture. Last year they raised over $15,000 for the “Be Nice” campaign for the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan and TCM Counseling.
Jessica Wallace is the Human Resources Director at Elhart Automotive and says they have a big event planned for September on campus for Kid’s Food Basket that will feature music and entertainment, including fun for kids.
“The staff here is selfless. Everything from paying $5 every single Friday to dress in jeans, to a bake sale and we already had a pancake breakfast to raise funds. It has been all internal and we’ve been branding this for five years, but this is the year we get the community involved with our cause at our event in September. We really hope this is a groundbreaking year for us.”
