HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A business institution in Holland for nearly a century will soon be consigned to the Tulip City’s history books.
In a public notice filed with the state last week, SAF-Holland stated that it would cease operations at its Ottawa Avenue offices and its West 18th Street production facility by the end of October, putting 97 employees out of work. This comes after the Luxenbourg-based company announced in January that it was consolidating its North American operations due to weak sales of components, systems and services for heavy-duty commercial vehicles, with its continental operations to be centered in Muskegon.
Founded as Holland Hitch during the 1920’s, Holland Inc. merged with SAF of Germany 11 years ago.
