HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A new Dutch cultural experience awaits you at this years Tulip Time Festival.
The Dutch Organ Concert – From Sweelinck to Sesame Street, will feature concert organist, Rhonda Sider Edgington. Edgington is also a musician at Hope Church She has studied and performed in Germany and the Netherlands under a Fulbright scholarship. At last years Tulip Time Festival she played for people walking by the church during the Art’s and Craft Fair.
“I started with Sweelinck and then the next composer that came to mind was a living Dutch composer Ad Wammes. I read his bio and was surprised that he has composed music for five Sesame Street albums. His style is very eclectic. He has a lot of influences as with a of of modern musicians. He’s played keyboarda in a Dutch rock band but also writes organ pieces that are classically styled, but also have pieces of jazz in them. I won’t be playing rubber ducky tho”
The Dutch Organ Concert is Sunday, May 7 from 7-8 p.m. at Hope Church. Tickets for this show, and all other festival events, can be purchased online , via phone at 616.396.4221 or visit the Tulip Time box office at 74 west 8th Street.
