HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Historic Ottawa Beach Park may get some new updates thanks to a grant proposal to the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund MNRTF that was approved by the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners.
Ottawa County Parks have made quite a number of improvements to its Historic Ottawa Beach Park, but according to a new grant proposal, the area is still deemed “unattractive.” The grant will provide funding for an extension of the waterfront walkway, landscape improvements for a green space along the waterfront, development of a universally accessible kayak launch, and updates to other park features.
The project is planned to be done at the same time as the development of a public marina next to the Park and the renovation of the historic red brick ‘pumphouse’ building into a museum.
The total project cost is $1.165 million.with a proposed $291,000 coming from the MNRTF and a proposed match from the county of $874,000.
