ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC) – A 60-year-old Grand Valley State biomedical sciences associate professor collapsed and died while taking a walk at the school’s main Allendale campus on Wednesday.
GVSU officials say that Dr. Steven Hecht was in the vicinity of the Cook-DeWitt Center when he succumbed. The school didn’t give out any other details of the incident, other than to say that the the biomedical sciences department and the Dean of Students office are reaching out to his students, and that the University Counseling Center will provide support services.
Dr. Hecht was in his 18th year at GVSU and his 13th in his current position.
