HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A gas leak at the MOPAR building in Holland caused crews to evacuate for a short time yesterday evening.
At about 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5 Barton Malow crews were excavating in the southwest part of the building when they hit a two-inch gas line, according to a spokeswoman for the Holland Board of Public Works and first reported by the Holland Sentinel.
All workers evacuated from the building and the plant was shut down for about 35 minutes while Semco Energy Gas Company fixed the leak.
Hope College Public Safety has advised that there could be a natural gas scent in areas near Seventh St. and Fairbanks Avenue, but no danger is presented.
No one was injured in during the incident.
