HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The city of Holland wants some help in raising funds for renovating the Holland Civic Center.
During tonight’s business meeting, Council members are expected to approve retaining Hopkins Fundraising Consulting Services for just that purpose. Keith Hopkins of the Ada-based firm will be making a presentation before the panel about what it would take to generate the money needed for desired improvements to the venerable facility and its surrounding area, as well as making sure that all involved are “on the same page.”
Hopkins and another undisclosed entity were interviewed by Mayor Nancy DeBoer, City Manager Ryan Cotton and Councilman Jay Peters and evaluated on knowledge, track record, connections to Holland, cost, approach and flexibility. If approved, Hopkins could start work on May 1st on a six-month retainer at a cost of around six thousand dollars monthly.
Work on renovating the Civic Center started last month with asbestos removal and will begin in earnest after the Tulip Time Festival.
