HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Earth Day is Saturday, April 22, and the DeGraaf Nature Center is hosting several free Earth Day events.
From 10-12 p.m. you can explore the “off trail” area for the “Let’s Find Asian Bittersweet” event. You’ll be asked to cut, pull, and spray the aggressive invasive species known as Asian Bittersweet. Your asked to wear protective clothing and to bring work gloves. Refreshments will be provided.
From 2-3 p.m. check out “Our Native Bees.” Entomologists from Michigan State University will be on hand to talk and teach about native bees and why we need to preserve habitat for them. Afterwards you’ll be able to make stem hives to take home. This program is sponsored by the Holland Garden Club.
