ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) – Less than two weeks after the incident, a 37-year-old Zeeland Township man has been charged with robbing a Saugatuck area convenience store.
Matthew Kimber was arraigned in Allegan District Court on Thursday on a count of armed robbery. He is accused of holding up the Lakeshore Convenience Store off of the Blue Star Highway on the evening of April 7th. Prosecutors claimed that Kimber told the clerk on duty that he was armed, demanded and received money from the cash register, and fled the scene in a pickup truck with a woman in the passenger seat. The victimized clerk was shaken but unharmed. The Saugatuck-Douglas Police Department had issued a public notice with an image last week, looking for tips in the matter.
No preliminary hearing date was immediately disclosed in the case.
