HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Before you get your motor running and head on out on the highway, head to the Ottawa County Fairgrounds in Holland for the 16th Annual Lakeshore Blessing of the Bikes.
The community gathering will start the 2017 riding season with a blessing for the riders to have a safe year, promote a sense of fellowship among bikers and to support local charities.
Diana Mavis of Lakeshore Blessing of the Bikes says the local charities that will benefit from the event are Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity and Kid’s Food Basket in Holland. Last year they were able to give award $8,000 to each of the charities. Over the course of the 16 years she says they have awarded charities of about $165,000 dollars.
An entry fee of $5.00 per bike or vehicle will be collected at the gate. A classic rock band called “The Perfect Storm” will make their debut providing the soundtrack says Mavis.
“”it’s a great way to walk around and just see see all the bikes. It’s a showpiece We’ll have food vendors, merchandise vendors and classic cars on display. A little but for everybody.”
Bikes that are “classics” and “customs” can enter the “Bll O’Brien Best Bike Contest” or the “Bob Burn’s Vintage Bike Contest.” The entry free is $10.00 and winners receive a trophy and cash prize.
