HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A local artist is living the dream in her studio in downtown Holland.
The Carolyn Stich Studio makes you feel happy the moment you walk in. It’s filled with color, art work, coloring books, posters, greeting cards, coffee mugs, pillows, unique gifts and of course the always smiling artist herself, Carolyn Stich.
Stich’s painting “Joy of Spring” was the 2015 Tulip Time poster winner. Her studio is always busy and filled with plenty of fun. From coloring parties on Saturday’s where proceeds benefit Kids Food Basket in Holland, to Tulip Time Festival activities like Tulip Pot Painting.
During the 2017 Tulip Time Festival, Stich will lead you through the process of designing and painting a terra cotta pot to fill with flowers. It’s the perfect evening with girlfriends and family.
“I’m very excited. We have the 6 inch terra cotta flower pots and we are painting them with acrylic paint and letting everybody use their imagination and come up with a great design themselves. We’re here to give some instruction and make it as easy as pie for them. After they finish painting we give it a quick spray to keep it nice and fresh and then we give them daylilies to plant in there. I’d love to plant tulips, but they are not in season right now, the bulbs. So we have some daylilies and hopefully in six weeks you’ll have a beautiful flower in your pot.”
You can paint a pot on Tuesday, May 9 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 13. Tickets are $25 per person and Stich supplies the paints and pots and even the cookies too.
The Carolyn Stich Studio is located at 208 College Avenue in downtown Holland.
