HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity Women Build 2017 has begun and will be celebrated the entire month of May.
Women Build is an international program that encourages women to get involved in addressing the housing needs of their community. Women Build kicked off May 3rd with two groups of women from YanFeng Automotive Interiors working to complete a home for a local family.
Volunteer Manager Stacey Korecki says Lakeshore says other women from companies such as Perrigo, Gentex, DIsher, Uniform Color Company, Tennant, Panera Bread and Hope Church are part of the Lakeshore’s Women Build.
“Volunteers get Women Build t-shirts, lunch on site and they are taught whatever task it is for that day and Lowes offers free clinics to help with that. It’s a lot of fun and camaraderie. We do our best to get the homeowners out there to meet with the volunteers and once the house is complete the volunteers get invited to an open house. It’s nice closure there for the volunteers.”
Lowes is the primary sponsor and Lakeshore Habitat is one of 300 Habitat’s chosen nationwide to get grant money for Women Build Week
