HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – An open house to discussed a planned traffic signal in a Holland neighborhood is today.
Beginning at 4 PM in Black River Public School, the 90-minute session will allow residents and other interested “shareholders” in the vicinity of East 16th Street and Columbia Avenue to learn more about a planned traffic signal that will be installed at that intersection. A 148 thousand-dollar state Department of Transportation grant request to fund the project, based on traffic volumes and crash history at the site; however, bids for the work came in at over 231 thousand dollars, more than 44 grand from what city planners had allocated.
The signal should be installed next month and be operational by the Independence Day holiday weekend.
