HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The opening act for the Waterfront Film Festival’s new, permanent home in Holland has been announced.
“The Ataxian,” a documentary about two men affected with Friedrich’s ataxia, a degenerative neuromuscular disorder, and their “race across the country on bikes to raise money and awareness for the cause,” will be shown in the June 22nd Grand Opening at the WFF’s venue off of Columbia Avenue, as well as the following two days. Cast members will be in attendance, as well as Holly LeBlanc, a wheelchair-bound Holland resident who has dealt with this disease for more than 20 years. Money raised during the Grand Opening will go towards her new fight with stage four cancer.
The Waterfront Film Festival last month announced its plan to move into its new permanent screening home. More information about the Grand Opening is here, as well as details about LeBlanc’s new non-profit organization. She is slated to speak at Central Wesleyan Church off of West 40th Street in Holland at 6:30 PM this evening in an event that is free and open to the public.
